  Categories: Events

On Tuesday, March 7, 2017, President of the Republic of Croatia Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović with her associates visited Ericsson Nikola Tesla. The delegation was welcomed by Gordana Kovačević, MSc. Ericsson Nikola Tesla president presented the Company's activities while highlighting research, development and innovations, particularly in the field of solutions and services for the Networked Society.

Afterwards, a tour of the Technology Road was made, where the high delegation was presented with Technological solutions for the Networked Society, developed by Ericsson Nikola Tesla experts.
During her visit, President of the Republic of Croatia MS Grabar-Kitarović pointed out that it was necessary to position Croatia on the map of technologically advanced countries which see their future in high technologies, as high added-value industries.

“It gives me great pleasure to be today in Ericsson Nikola Tesla, a company which has the largest R&D center not only in Croatia, but in the wider region, with 1200 employees. It is quite impressive that in the last two years 700 new young experts were employed, majority of them in R&D center, and according to Gordana Kovačević, president of the Company, this trend can be expected in the future. It sends a powerful message to young people to associate their future profession with STEM disciplines, which represent the foundation of industries which guarantee them a high-quality future in Croatia. The state institutions have the responsibility to provide a high-quality support to the real economy on the one hand, and even more actively initiate and encourage important informatization processes in Croatia on the other hand. Through its stable business results, Ericsson Nikola Tesla clearly gives the recipe for sustainable business operations. It is a company which quickly and successfully adapts to market changes, while its technological leadership is achieved by strong investments into R&D activities.”

Gordana Kovačević, president of the Company, specially pointed out the active contribution of Ericsson Nikola Tesla to Croatia’s digital transformation on its way towards the Networked Society: “We at Ericsson Nikola Tesla build our business success on solid foundations: technological leadership, knowledge, innovativeness and competences of our 3,000 employees as well as partnership with our customers. Our experts, equally with their colleagues in Ericsson, participate in the creation of global technological trends. At the same time, we have an important role in the development and implementation of solutions for informatization of large state systems, for example Joint Information System of Land Registry and Cadaster, which is often highlighted as one of the basic prerequisites for wider structural reforms in Croatia. Just as important is the continuation of activities with the Ministry of Healthcare of the Republic of Croatia on the implementation of new functionalities in the Central information health care system, such as e-Health Record and Patient portal, as well as the project for development of a system for state border surveillance of the Republic of Croatia, realized in record time mid-January this year. I welcome the actualization of the need to more actively direct young people into science, technology, engineering and mathematics. We at Ericsson Nikola Tesla have a variety of programs for young people in order to get them interested in STEM and ICT. All those activities show that our Networked Society strategy is not just a vision, but it concerns real projects that change the world we live in.”
