  Categories: Recognitions

Ericsson Nikola Tesla was among the first Croatian companies to participate in implementing the project of the Croatian Institute of Public Health “Living Healthy”, co-financed by the European Social Fund, Operational Programme „Effective Human Resources “2014 - 2020, which refers to a set of activities within the component “Health-friendly company”.

The aim of this component of the project is to increase the level of health of the working population, which equally interests both employers and employees. Accordingly, two groups of activities were designed. On the one hand, the employers must satisfy all the evaluation criteria of the company's work environment - nutrition, promotion of physical activity, occupational health & safety, smoking ban, alcohol ban, open space planning, and protecting consumer and client health. On the other hand, the employees were invited to get additional education and make improvements in their life and work by participating in a series of educational lectures and workshops.

After the successful evaluation of the work environment and a respectable number of employees who took the lectures, the experts from the Croatian Institute of Public Health confirmed that all criteria have been met for Ericsson Nikola Tesla to be awarded the “Health-friendly company” certificate.

Gordana Kovačević, MSc, president of Ericsson Nikola Tesla, received the certificate from Ivana Pavić Šimetin, MD, PhD, Deputy Director-General of the Croatian Institute of Public Health:
“It is with great pleasure that I congratulate and award the “Health-friendly company” certificate.  I am happy that Ericsson Nikola Tesla has recognized the value of promoting health, joined the project and became one of the companies that promote health. I hope that other companies will also follow your example and that in the future we will have an increasing number of companies that care and invest in the health of their employees.”

Associate professor Danijela Štimac Grbić, PhD, leader of the component “Health and the Workplace” of the “Living Healthy” project, commented on the evaluation and education process in Ericsson Nikola Tesla: "By promoting health in the workplace, we invest in the productivity and development of the community. Through activities of the “Health-friendly company”, a main part of the 4th component of the national program “Living Healthy”, we try to motivate and encourage companies to invest and improve the health of employees. We are happy that Ericsson Nikola Tesla recognized the significance of promoting health and joined the project.
After the initial evaluation, which established a high level of care for the health of employees, educational workshops were held for company’s employees, encompassing areas of promoting healthy nutrition and physical exercise, promoting nonsmoking and not drinking alcohol, as well as promoting mental health and psychosocial risks at workplace. The public health care initiative which was particularly successful was the one focusing on Smoking and Drinking modules, i.e. promoting anti-smoking and anti-drinking. In a fun and an interactive way, the participants had the opportunity to become aware of the advantages of not smoking and not drinking alcohol, and to measure their blood pressure and body mass through anthropometric measurements and a brief consultation on proper nutrition, which resulted in great response and satisfaction, reflected in the performed evaluation.
Today, we are very pleased to confirm that Ericsson Nikola Tesla successfully satisfied all the necessary criteria and became the “Health-friendly company”.

G. Kovačević thanked on the award by saying: “For Ericsson Nikola Tesla, and for me personally, the certificate “Health-friendly company” represents motivation for further activities in creating an even better working environment. It is known that this aspect of business not only significantly impacts the health of employees, but also their satisfaction and commitment to work. Therefore, we put maximum effort to secure all the conditions for our employees to feel good and safe as a part of a great team of Ericsson Nikola Tesla”.
