International Bled Water Festival has once again proven to be an excellent platform for connecting various public and private organizations and experts in the field of preservation and sustainable use of water. The awards given in several categories – corporate, national, and individual projects – have revealed the best innovations and practices related to water as well as projects that should be followed. The award for large companies went to Ericsson Nikola Tesla.

“I sincerely congratulate all the winners. I am certain that the awards went to the right people. Not only Slovenia but also the wider region and the world need solutions for as responsible management of water as possible. Bled Water Festival has a mission to provide the highest level of care to water, and the presented and awarded projects and innovations prove that we are successful in doing this,” said Marko Gajić, the organizer and founder of Bled Water Festival non-profit organization.

Ericsson Nikola Tesla receives award on Bled for WaterQ projectEricsson Nikola Tesla company was awarded for the WaterQ project, which promotes the availability of drinking water and the protection of natural resources and their sustainable development. The project was prepared and is carried out in collaboration with Andrija Štampar Teaching Institute of Public Health, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing (University of Zagreb), Telemetris company and Freewa start-up. It is based on the active inclusion of scientific community and participation of the public using modern technologies of crowdmapping and a two-way communication in a unique way, with the aim of protecting the environment and water resources.  In short, the sensors developed at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing enable automatic collection of a series of environmental data on water via a mobile connection. This data is then analyzed, processed and presented by an advanced ICT platform called e-Environment, developed by Ericsson Nikola Tesla’s experts. Telemetris company develops products based on a sensor prototype that will, in the final version, be integrated in the Freewa bottle. Freewa application enables that the citizens be included in the process of collecting and using data, and public health institute is responsible for algorithms and competent interpretation of results and the assessment of potential risks. Karlo Guštin, Manager New Areas & Strategic Initiative at Ericsson Nikola Tesla, received the award, pointing out the importance of coordinated actions of public health institutions, the scientific community and business world as well as its great potential for new partnerships and future development, which has contributed to the fact that this Croatian initiative becomes recognized and appreciated abroad as well.
