Ericsson (NASDAQ: ERIC) has been selected by Telefónica Chile, the largest mobile network operator and internet service provider in the country, to completely virtualize the operator’s core network. A fully virtualized core network provides the operator with faster time-to-market of innovative new products and services that capture the opportunities presented by use cases in 5G and the Internet of Things (IoT).

Gordana Kovačević, the President of Ericsson Nikola Tesla, comments: „In the first nine months, sales revenue of Ericsson Nikola Tesla Group decreased by 5.7% year-over-year. Despite continuous sales revenue growth from services in Ericsson market, we have still not been able to fully neutralize the decrease in sales in CIS markets. Sales revenue in the domestic market slightly decreased, while sales in the markets of Southeast Europe were on the same level as previous year. Ericsson market continues to record an increase in revenue due to expansion of responsibilities and new competencies of our experts in R&D and other expert centers. We have successfully entered into new technology areas, which resulted in high value added job openings. During the first nine months, we hired more than 200 new experts, primarily in R&D.

Rijeka Gets First Smart Bus Stops in Croatia

As of today, citizens of Rijeka and numerous tourists have at their disposal two smart bus stops, offering a great number of functionalities for a more efficient and pleasant experience of using public transport. The stops present a global breakthrough in technology on the road towards connected smart cities of the future, and in the background of the entire story there is a six-month long pilot project of the City of Rijeka in partnership with Ericsson Nikola Tesla company, Hrvatski Telekom, Smart RI, Autotrolej and Rijeka promet.
17th Ericsson Nikola Tesla Summer Camp Closed

Official closing of the 17th Ericsson Nikola Tesla Summer Camp was held on the company’s premises on Wednesday, September 28, 2017. Along with numerous students and their mentors who participated in the camp, many representatives of academia were present at the official closing, headed by Prof. Blaženka Divjak, PhD, Minister of Science and Education in the Government of the Republic of Croatia.
Parking in Split Will Soon Go Smart

Following a successfully implemented pilot project, Ericsson Nikola Tesla, as the consortium leader, together with Profico company, will deliver an ICT solution for smart parking to Split Parking utility company. The works amount to nearly MHRK 3, and the project is planned to last six months. This is the first integral solution for smart parking in Croatia and it represents one of the steps on the path towards a smart city in the mobility field.
