Ericsson Nikola Tesla celebrates by donating to flood victims

Ericsson Nikola Tesla celebrates its 65 years of successful and socially responsible business by donating one million kuna for rebuilding the medical clinic in Gunja, which was completely destroyed in this years’ spring flood. During the ceremony, which was attended by Ivo Josipović, President of the Republic of Croatia, Branko Grčić, Deputy Prime Minister, Anka Mrak Taritaš, Minister of Construcion and Physical Planning, Vedran Mornar, Minister of Science, Education and Sports, Sandra Švaljek, Mayor’s Deputy from the City of Zagreb, and more than one hundred other people, including buyers, business partners and distinguished persons from Croatia public life, MSc Gordana Kovačević, president of the Company, presented the keys of the rebuild medical clinic in Gunja to Luca Lešić, the principal of the community health center. With this, the employees of the Company have once more, along with innovativeness and professionalism, shown responsibility towards the community, which they work in.

Cooperation with Ericsson

The Company, founded in 1949, is one of the rare domestic companies with continuous good results in all market and social circumstances. Considering the fact that the people are the key factor for success, MSc Gordana Kovačević, President of the Company, a successful and encouraging Company leader for more than a decade, well-known even outside Croatia, addressed the public in an inspired way. From the rich Company history and several crucial years, Mrs Kovačević highlighted more than six-decade long cooperation with Ericsson, global telecom and technology leader, successful transformation and privatization and a constant focus on future, along with business success and growth. Speaking on behalf of Croatian Employers’ Association, President Gordana Deranja pointed out the importance of Ericsson Nikola Tesla in the development of the national economy and its status of the leader in the Croatian ICT industry.
 
Innovativeness and responsibility

President Ivo Josipović, highlighted the knowledge and quality by which the work of Ericsson Nikola Tesla experts are known along with their status of specific ambassadors of Croatia in a complex and demanding global surroundings. A special edition of Ericsson Nikola Tesla TV News (hr) attracted the attention of the guests, with which the hosts have shown important moments from the Company history, and where numerous prominent individuals from Croatia’s public life analyzed current situation and gave their vision of the future of Croatia’s largest knowledge exporter.

The highlight of the ceremony was, undoubtedly, the handover of the keys of the medical clinic in Gunja. Minister Mrak Taritaš expressed gratitude to all Ericsson Nikola Tesla employees for precious help and on behalf of the Ministry of Construction and Physical Planning, which organized the rebuild, handed over to the President of the Company, which ordered the rebuild, a symbolic key of the fully rebuild medical clinic in Gunja. Gordana Kovačević explained that the Company, which has been for years technologically oriented towards health care, decided to go into this project, knowing that the health is most valuable. “Therefore, we used innovative culture of our employees and found a way how to motivate them in order to increase the amount of donation, while at the same time we learned something new. On Zagreb and Split Innovation Days we organized an action “Rebuilding by Knowledge – Add your brick for the medical clinic”. The employees attended presentations on our experts’ innovations and at the same time, learned and checked their knowledge, and each correct answer brought them a symbolic brick for the rebuilding of the medical clinic. In the end, we turned the bricks into kunas and rounded it to one million kuna so I proudly can give this symbolic key to the principal of the community health center Luca Lešić.” While thanking, Mrs Lešić said that with this Ericsson Nikola Tesla shows, that, along with responsibility for business success, the Company is socially responsible. ”It is a great feeling when you have someone who will help you when you need it the most. I wish to say thank you once more to everybody that helped us and are still helping.“
 
In the end, the guests visited Company’s Technology Road, where they saw latest technology solutions for networked society, which were, in cooperation with colleagues from all around the world, developed by Ericsson Nikola Tesla experts, and that improve peoples’ lives, protect the environment and create, with profit, benefit to the whole community.
