Ericsson Nikola Tesla and IPKO Signed a New Contract

The President of Ericsson Nikola Tesla, Gordana Kovačević, MSc, and the Executive Director of Kosovo operator IPKO, Robert Erzin, MSc, signed a framework contract that defines the strategic relations for the following period. The contract relates to the modernization of IPKO radio access and microwave network. IPKO's existing 2G network will be upgraded with new Ericsson RBS 6000 base stations and new nodes in radio access network core segment.

 

 

This continues the partnership that was started in 2007 with the contract on the basis of which Ericsson Nikola Tesla delivered and integrated the entire GSM network to the Kosovo operator, in short time period.  The contract on managed services followed, as well as several contracts regarding hardware and software upgrade.

 

The President of Ericsson Nikola Tesla commented on the contract: “I am very pleased that IPKO recognized Ericsson's technology leadership and the quality of our services, and that we are continuing an excellent collaboration. This contract is strategically important, considering that it is the foundation for expanding IPKO's 3G network, as well as introducing 4G network, and microwave network will be upgraded, and, if necessary, expanded. Ericsson Nikola Tesla will, in the radio access and microwave network segment, in the following years, be the single vendor. Our partnership is seen in close collaboration of our and IPKO's experts on the basis of which IPKO will continue to deliver the most advanced mobile communications services  to Kosovo users.“
