Ericsson Nikola Tesla modernizes operational and communication centers of the Ministry of Interior

Ericsson Nikola Tesla delivered to the Ministry of Interior operational and communication equipment, based on Coordcom solution for assistance in emergency situations. The solution enables integration of call reception and information from other systems, such as Ministry’s video cameras and locations of the patrols in the field. With this, operations officers on duty will more easily coordinate and manage reports from the field, and time necessary for analysis of the situation and decision on the use of police forces in a particular situation will be minimized.

Presentation of modernized Operational and communication centers

On this occasion, in the Operational and communication center (OCC) of the Zagreb Police Department, on October 5, into operation were put modernized OCCs in Zagreb, Split and Rijeka. In the second phase, OCCs of the General Police Directorate and Osijek-Baranja Police Department will be modernized. In the near future, modernization will be carried out in other OCCs, and it is planned to include third party video cameras. Evelin Tonković, Deputy Minister of the Interior, while addressing to the gathered audience at the premises and via video link in other police departments, stresses the exceptional importance of this modernization as a prerequisite for faster and more efficient performance of complex operative police tasks. Goran Burušić, chief of Zagreb Police Department emphasized that this is a beginning of an easier management in the police department, which will bring the safety level to a higher level. 
 
Press conference in OCCMSc Gordana Kovačević, Ericsson Nikola Tesla president, said in her speech: With eOCC project, the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Croatia has shown that it understands the potential of the ICT in provisioning state-of-the-art technological basis for realization of the main task in the police OCC – to be a central police office and a service for our citizens with the help of modern ICT. Today, Croatia receives cutting-edge system for service to the public, which is open for implementation of new, advanced solutions, functionalities and services in the future, and which will in full show all the potential of competent bodies and available data, an on the other hand, modern ICT technologies and networking.
 
Part of the project was Croatian Regulatory Authority for Network Industries (HAKOM). Dražen Lučić, PhD., President of Council of HAKOM stressed the importance of the OCC development with the use of high technology, and his pleasure with the fact it was done with the help of domestic companies. 
 
From left to right: Evelin Tonković, Gordana Kovačević and Goran BurušićDeputy Minister of the Interior Tonković announces that soon will be put into operation an application for citizens with which they will be able to record an event which endangers safety and anonymously send it to the police system. E-police system was also presented, within which 50 police vehicles in Zagreb are equipped with a computer and printer. Police officers now have video cameras on their uniforms and they will record police proceedings. Their aim is to contribute to professionalism and legality of the police proceedings and protection of police officers against groundless charges.
